The main parts consist of decorticating drum, feed hopper, collecting tray, outlet arrangement, water supply system and power transmission unit. The main part of decorticating drum was made of stainless steel of 217 mm diameter and 460 mm length. In order to facilitate the decorticating efficiency, 20 pegs were fixed in staggered arrangement on shaft which is rotating at a speed of 398 rpm. A hopper of size 405 x 82 x 117 mm made of 23 gauge stainless sheet is provided at the top for the easy feeding of pepper to the drum. The collecting tray consists of perforated metal screen of 453 x 277 x 75 mm made of 23 gauge stainless steel placed at the bottom to drain the water after decortication. Pepper berries after decortication got discharged from the drum through a shutter opening of size 430 x130 mm. A SS pipe of ½” diameter and 400 mm length with three water inlet (jet) of 8mm diameter was provided to the drum for the smooth decortication without any breakage.
